I grew up fishing Western Montana rivers. Most of what I know came from time on these waters — watching flows change, seeing where fish hold in different seasons, and adjusting when conditions shift.
Today, I guide primarily on the Clark Fork River, the St. Regis River, and the Bitterroot River.
Trips are built around what the river is doing that week and how you like to fish. There’s no preset script.

I operate a working fly shop in St. Regis, Montana — located at the confluence of the Clark Fork and St. Regis rivers.
It keeps me close to daily river conditions. Flies are tied and selected specifically for these waters. What works here isn’t always what works somewhere else.
Many anglers stop in before or after a trip. If you’re fishing on your own, it’s a practical place to get pointed in the right direction.

Most trips are owner-led.
When we run multi-boat days, I work with a small group of trusted guides who know these rivers and operate to the same standard. They’re anglers I’d fish with myself.
